There is a continental climate with long, very cold winter in Russian Far East. Natural and chroi exposure of local honeybee (Apis mellifera) species to this harsh winter contributes to its protective coldresist property. Biologically, significant relevance of higher cold resistance to catalase activity of somatocytes has been some extent obtained for invertibrate animals, in paticular insects. In the present work, to reveal the influence average low temperature on catalase activity of somatocytes in honeybee, we introduced in a gasometric method quantify catalase activity in the intestinal tissue of Apis mellifera by the measurement of the volume of oxyg produced as a result of hydrogen peroxide decomposition.
